I’m frequently asked what products I use in the kitchen for our family meals or for the kids meals, school lunches and snacks etc.
So I thought it might be useful to put it all my favourite kitchen appliances and tableware products together in a post.
Next week I’m going to be sharing the products that I use and have used over the years for the kids packed lunches and for serving their meals and snacks.
But this week, I wanted to share my favourite kitchen appliances and equipment I use most regularly for cooking at home.
Slow Cookers
If you’ve been following for a while, then you’ll know that I absolutely love a slow cooker or crock pot and I’ll show you the one I use below.
Slow Cookers are incredibly versatile! You can cook so many different types of meal in them.
Check out some of my favourite savoury and SWEET treats I’ve cooked in mine below.
Slow Cooker Hidden Veg Pasta Sauce
Slow Cooker Chocolate Fudge Cake (YES! An actual Cake made in the Slow Cooker!)
Or if you can always check out our full catalogue of Slow Cooker Recipes!
This is the Slow Cooker that I use.
One of the reasons I love this model so much is that you can remove the inner pot and use it on the hob.
So if you need to sear any meat beforehand, you don’t need to dirty another pot or pan.
Size wise, we are a family of 4 and it is plenty big enough.
Air Fryers
I’ve posted quite a lot of Airfryer Recipes over the last year or so. But it really has fast become one of my favourite kitchen appliances.
I love the fact that I can use it to Cook A Whole Roast Chicken in just one hour so it’s absolutely brilliant for busy families.
But I’ve also done loads of really simple recipes in it too, like these Airfryer Chicken & Cheese Pinwheels that the kids have been loving.
I’ve even made this Airfryer Snickers Banana in there which is incredible!
There are so many different models of airfryer out there these days and ranging in price from relatively inexpensive to top of the market.
I’ve been using this Uten 6.5 Litre Airfryer for over a year now and I’m still loving it.
Hand Blenders
Another kitchen appliance that I get loads of use out of, especially during the winter months, is my Stick Blender or Hand Blender.
If you read the blog regularly, you know I love a Soup Recipe! And I use my hand blender all the time when making homemade soup.
I also tend to use it for my Hidden Veggie Recipes like in this Hidden Veg Chicken Curry
Hand Blenders are fairly inexpensive these days and you don’t need to spend a lot of money on one to get lots of use out of it.
I’ve had a few over the years, but this Russell Hobbs Hand Blender is my current favourite.
It gets through blending up the veggies easily so they are completely hidden from those fussy eaters!
Waffle Irons
Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t an essential piece of kitchen kit in my opinion, BUT I bet some of you have one lingering in the cupboard that you never use and is taking up valuable space?
Now I did fall victim to the Aldi “middle aisle” random purchase when I bought mine, but I have since discovered that you can actually use them for more than just waffles!
I’ve recently made this Waffle French Toast with mine and the kids went wild for it!
They don’t currently have the one I bought in stock at Aldi however this Waffle Iron on Amazon is pretty much identical.
So dig out your waffle irons, dust them down and get creative! Let me know what you make with yours.
Muffin Cases
We absolutely love making muffins at My Fussy Eater and we’ve made heaps of them over the years.
If there is one top tip I could give you about making muffins, it would be to use Silicone Muffin Cases!
Trust me, I’ve tried all sorts of paper cases over the years and no matter which ones I’ve used, they have had a tendency to stick and tear.
But if you use the silicone ones, there will be no sticking to the paper case and your muffins will come out looking perfect.
Not to mention, they are reusable so are more sustainable and will save you money in the long run.
I use them for these Lunchbox Ham & Cheese Muffins
These are the muffin cases I use:
Mini Muffin Tray
There’s something my kids love about anything mini. Be it Mini Burgers or Mini Pinwheels, the novelty factor gets them every time.
So lately I’ve been making these Mini Pancake Bites for breakfast and they’ve been a real hit.
They are freezable too so brilliant for making up in batches and storing for when you need them.
I really recommend this Silicone Mini Muffin Tray as not only is it the perfect size, it’s also non stick!
Casserole Dishes
With the cooler weather now well and truly here, it’s out with the “picky teas in the garden” and in with lots of warming comfort food.
So as well as the Slow Cooker Meals that I mentioned above, we will be doing lots of these One Pot Meals.
That means that one of the most used bits of kitchenware in my house will be this cast iron casserole dish.
There are lots of more expensive ones out there, but I’ve had this one for ages and I think it’s really good quality and works just as well as some of the other brands.
Some of my favourite winter recipes that you can cook in this cast iron casserole dish are:
Sausage & Butterbean Casserole
Or this Kid-Friendly Chilli Con Carne
Don’t forget to come back next week when I’ll be sharing products that I use and have used over the years for the kids packed lunches and for serving their meals and snacks.
