Family Meal Plan Week #5

January 2, 2017 by Ciara Attwell, Updated October 28, 2022

Weekly Family Meal Plan - Number 6

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and are ready and raring to go for 2017! One of my big resolutions this year is to really get into meal planning. I know I made a half-hearted attempt last year but I really want to crack it this year and get us all eating healthy family meals with a lot less food waste.

To help me stay accountable I’m going to do weekly videos setting out my meal plans but also letting you know how we got on the week before. If we veer off plan or crack and order a take-away, I will be honest and let you know!

So here’s our meal planning video for this week and the actual meal plan with links set out below. If you guys have any tips or tricks for sticking to meal planning on a long term basis PLEASE let me know!

I always plan our meals weekly. One of the best tips I can give you is to mix it up a bit. So you don’t have to have those meals on the nights that you’ve chosen. Sometimes you might not fancy that one particular meal on that day. So I swap them around. You still eat all the meals but it’s not so strict which gives you more of a variety. I hope that makes sense. Haha
    Good luck. ☺

That makes total sense Gemma. I do that sometimes too. We need to give ourselves a bit of flexibility, right!

We always have the same “food group” on he same day each week. I.e.: it’s always chicken on a Monday lunch for the baby and always a tagine for kids Monday tea. Always pasta Tuesday tea etc…. makes my life easier and my kids thrive on repeated meals. great book to read (skim) is Simplicity Parenting which inspired me. Always have our meat protein at lunch as a rule and veg/fish (whatever they will eat) for tea.
I’m still batch cooking 90% of meals after 5 years and I really should stop soon but it’s a habit.
Breakfast is the killer everyday though. Just tried your overnight oats recipe tonight so will see if fussy 1 and 2 will have a barr of it in the morning.
