Frozen Banana Pops

A fun snack to make over the summer with kids. Chocolate covered frozen banana pops!

Close up on frozen banana pop, served on a brightly colored blue pick stick.

If you're looking for a fun snack to make with the kids over the summer holidays then check out these Frozen Banana Pops.

A really simple idea but the kids will enjoy making them and eating them too.

Bananas being chopped into slices on a pink chopping board.

Take a banana and chop it into slices.

There's no exact measurement it needs to be but about the width of the top of your fingers is a good size.

Small plastic food skewer being inserted into the banana slice.

Take a small plastic food skewer and insert into the banana slice.

I used my Pick Sticks as they are the perfect sized skewer to this.

Banana slice being dipped into a small pot of melted mil chocolate.

Melt some chocolate. I used milk chocolate but dark or white chocolate will work just as well.

Dip the banana slices into the melted and chocolate to coat them completely.

Banana slices laid out in a circle on a plate and coloured sprinkles are being added.

Lay on a plate or small tray and top with sprinkles.

Pop them into the freezer for 30 minutes to firm up.

Then they're ready to eat!

It's best to eat these immediately after removing them from the freezer as the banana will start to deteriorate as it defrosts.

You can make them the night before and keep in the freezer overnight but again I wouldn't keep them in the freezer for any longer than a day.

Description

A fun snack to make over the summer with kids. Chocolate covered frozen banana pops!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 banana
  • 80g chocolate
  • 1 tbsp sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Chop the banana into slices roughly about the width of the top of your finger.
  2. Add a small food skewer to each banana.
  3. Melt the chocolate. I find it easiest to do this in a small glass as you get a good depth of chocolate in which to dip the banana.
  4. Dip the banana slices in the melted chocolate until they are full coated and then transfer to a plate.
  5. Add some sprinkles on top.
  6. Freeze for 30 minutes.

Notes

These Banana Pops are best eaten immediately after removing from the freezer.

If you want to make them ahead of time you can keep them in the freezer overnight and serve the next day, but I wouldn't make them any further ahead as the banana will start to deteriorate.

After trying for months to get my son to try/eat banana, I was on the verge of giving up as he just kept rejecting it as it was to slimy.

Thankfully I was recommend to have a look at your website by a friend and came across these, as there frozen it takes away that 'slimy' texture and the added bonus of chocolate and sprinkles help.

Thank you My Fussy Eater I will be trying more of your recipes. x
