Get into the spirit of the 4th July celebrations with these red, white and blue Fruit Skewers with Chocolate Orange dipping sauce.

fruit skewers with marshmallows

To all my American friends and followers, Happy 4th of July! I hope you enjoy the celebrations and all that amazing food and drink you guys are so well known for.

It’s business as usual here in the UK and not a national holiday for us unfortunately but that doesn’t mean we can’t get into the spirit of the festivities. I

n our house tonight we’ll be scoffing big fat American style burgers followed by these delicious Fruit Skewers with a Chocolate Orange Dipping Sauce.

Fruit Skewers with Chocolate Orange Sauce

Made with raspberries, blueberries and marshmallows, these fruit skewers (or kabobs as the Americans would say!) are a really easy way to get some fruit into your fussy little eaters.

Obviously I chose the ingredients to stick with the red, white and blue theme but pretty much any fruit can be skewered like this.

The chocolate orange sauce makes this dish a little more naughty but even more enticing!

You can use it as a dipping sauce for the fruit (kind of like a fruit fondue) or else swirl it onto the skewers before serving and refrigerate for a few minutes so that the chocolate hardens. Mmmmm, both ways are equally as delicious!

Fruit & Marshmallow Skewers with Chocolate Orange Sauce

The wooden skewers can be sharp so obviously be careful that your fussy eaters don’t hurt themselves. I’ve seen straws been used instead of skewers too, so that might be a good alternative if you are worried about injuries.

What a cute idea. We don’t really celebrate 4th July but made these for my daughter’s birthday party and they were very well received by both kids and adults alike. The chocolate orange sauce is so yummy.

Lovely and colourful! I like that the chocolate sauce has a hint of orange in it too – they go so well together.
