The easiest recipe for Pancake Tuesday. Delicious crepe style pancakes made with just three simple ingredients.
It’s Pancake Tuesday, aka Shrove Tuesday, this week and if you’re looking for the easiest ever pancake recipe to whip up with the kids then keep reading!
There are a million pancake recipes out there but for Pancake Tuesday I like to make a super simple crepe style pancake made with just three basic ingredients that you probably already have at home.
For this recipe all you’ll need is:
- plain flour
- milk
- eggs
You can’t get much more simple than that! You’ll also need some butter or oil to grease the pan, although just a very small amount.
And you don’t need any fancy equipment either. Just a large bowl and a hand whisk. This is where you can get the kids involved. Get them to mix the batter until it is completely smooth with no lumps.
Cooking the pancake is just as easy. You just need to very lightly coat a frying pan with some butter or oil and then add a ladle of the batter to the pan. Swirl it around really quickly so that the batter coats the entire surface of the pan and then cook for about a minute on either side.
If you’re feeling confident then have a go at flipping the pancakes! Just be careful as the pan will be very hot.
I like a simple topping of sugar and lemon juice on my pancakes but feel free to get creative with chopped fruit, yogurt, nutella or jam.
You can also make savoury pancakes. Treat it like a wrap for a delicious dinner!

My daughter helped me make these for breakfast this weekend and we served them with banana and peanut butter, strawberry, raspberries and yoghurt. It felt like a really lovely treaty breakfast but was ridiculously easy to make and made me realise that pancake making doesn’t have to be hard work!

Beautiful photography! My kids love pancakes as much as they love sweets so i’ll give this a go, it’ll be good for the easter break with easter egg shaped ones.

I’m in the US so I had to look how to convert 180g of flour to cups. It was still watery, so I kept adding until the batter resembled a thicker pancake batter. They turned out more like thick crapes – which we were all just fine with! We layered them and smothered almond butter between layers and topped with strawberries, bananas, and drizzled with honey. Delicious breakfast.

Hi Janis, this type of pancake batter is supposed to be a lot thiner than the US thick style pancakes that you might be used to. Glad you still enjoyed them though! x
