Description

A burger doesn’t have to be unhealthy, try my lean burger recipe all served up with Big Mac flavours in a bowl

Ingredients

  • 500g lean 5% minced beef
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp oil

To serve in burger bowl:

  • handful of lettuce
  • 50g cherry tomatoes
  • 25g grated cheddar cheese
  • 25g gherkins
  • 1/2 tbsp burger sauce

To serve in burger buns:

  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • cheese
  • sesame burger buns

Instructions

  1. Add the minced beef, egg, garlic powder and onion powder to a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into four and pat into burger shapes.
  3. Place the burgers on a plate and put in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up. This will stop the burgers from falling apart when cooked.
  4. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and cook the burgers for about 6 minutes on either side or until fully cooked through.
  5. Add the lettuce, cherry tomatoes , grated cheese and gherkins to a large bowl. Serve the burger on top with the burger sauce.
  6. Serve the remaining burgers with buns with lettuce, tomato and cheese.
