If you have guests arriving this Christmas and want to make something simple but also really impressive then this Pesto Puff Pastry Star Wreath is the one!

It’s just two sheets of pastry with red and green pesto spread in the middle and topped with parmesan cheese.

"Star

The first step is to roll out one sheet of puff pastry and cut it across the middle.

"Pre-rolled

Spread green pesto on the top half and red pesto on the bottom half.

Add the second sheet of pastry on top and cut again along the middle, following the line you already made when you cut the first sheet.

Push down on the top layer so that it all sticks together.

"Pesto

Use a star cutter to cut out shapes from the pastry.

The star cutter I used was 6cm in size but you can use a slightly larger or small one too.

"Star

Use a large dinner plate to draw a circle shape onto some parchment paper.

"A

Add the cut out stars all around the circle, overlapping them slightly.

Add some egg wash to the top.

"Star

Then finally top with grated parmesan.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.

Recipe FAQ’s

Egg Alternative – Instead of egg you can use some milk brushed on to the top of the pastry.

Offcuts – There will be lots of offcuts from the pastry. Don’t throw them away! Bake them up on another baking tray and they’re just as delicious!

Serving – You can serve this wreath up directly on the parchment paper that you cooked it on. You can also transfer it to a board or large plate. When you transfer it, some of the stars will break away. But it’s easy to arrange them back into the circle shape.
