We often focus on the big food items for Christmas like turkey, ham, beef etc. But in my opinion side dishes are the real heroes of festive meals. Get a couple of really delicious side dishes on the table and it can elevate your Christmas dinner to another level!

Potato Dauphinoise is a favourite of mine but until now I’ve rarely made it at Christmas as there just isn’t enough space in the oven for everything. So I decided to try it in the airfryer instead and wow! It was incredible!

The first step is to peel and chop your potatoes into ½cm slices. If you slice them too thick then they won’t cook. And slice them too thin, they’ll end up breaking up and you’ll be left with creamy mash instead!

Also choose small to medium sized potatoes so the slices don’t end up too large.

""

Make up the creamy sauce by adding milk, single cream and nutmeg to a jug along with salt and pepper.

"Glass

Add a layer of the sliced potatoes to the bottom of an oven proof dish, followed by some chopped garlic and a little of the cream mixture.

"All

Keep repeating these layers until all the ingredients have been added.

"Potatoes

Place the dish in the airfryer and cook at 200c for 30 minutes.

I stopped the airfryer three times whilst cooking to mix up the potatoes. This will stop the top layer of potatoes from getting too brown and crispy.

You could also place a layer of tin foil round the top instead.

"Potatoes

After 30 minutes, add grated gruyere cheese to the top. You could also use grated cheddar or parmesan too.

Cook for a further 5 minutes.

"Part

When ready, add some chopped fresh parsley to the top and serve immediately.

So delicious and absolutely perfect for Christmas Day!

Which Air Fryer Is The Best?

There’s so many different air fryers out there on the market at the moment. Some of the big brand names are expensive but I have been using this Uten 6.5 Litre Air Fryer since last year and I love it.

It’s really big, perfect for family sized meals and fits a whole chicken too!
