"Sausages

At this time of year you really can’t beat a big bowl of sausages with mashed potato smothered in homemade gravy. There’s nothing quite like it on a cold Winter’s day!

You might think that making your own gravy is complicated but honestly it’s not.

How To Make Sausages in Onion Gravy

Simply fry the sausages in a pan and then remove them. In that same pan fry onions and garlic in butter, before adding flour and then stock.

Once the gravy has thickened the sausages are added back in to warm through. So easy!

I used turkey sausages in this recipe but you can use pork or chicken too. You could also use vegetarian sausages although check the cooking times on the packet as they probably won’t need as long frying as meat sausages.

I’ve served mine with mashed potato and peas. You can get my foolproof Mashed Potato recipe here. Or if you’re in a rush use the shop bought microwave mash. No one will ever know!

Storage Instructions

Leftovers can be kept in a container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the microwave or on the hob.

This recipe can also be frozen in a freezer bag or container. Defrost in the fridge overnight and reheat in the microwave or on the hob.

If you fancy a low carb side dish instead then try my Broccoli Mash. Just as delicious but much lower in calories and carbs.
