Next Saturday is of course St Patrick’s Day and I couldn’t let the day pass without sharing some traditional Irish recipes from my homeland!

I already shared the recipe for this super easy but oh so comforting Irish Beef Stew and today I’m showing you how to make the perfect accompaniment in the form of these delicious Soda Bread Scones!

This recipe is basically a cross between soda bread and a scone. It’s a savoury recipe, it doesn’t contain any sugar but that means it goes so well with so many different foods.

It tastes so delicious spread with butter and dipped into my Irish stew. But it also tastes equally as good served with a chunk of cheddar cheese and some chutney or relish.

My kids also love these for breakfast spread with strawberry jam. Delicious!

Making your own bread at home might seem intimidating but these are honest so easy. They don’t require any kneading or proving and you don’t need any special equipment or gadgets.

Buttermilk is now available is most big supermarkets but if you are having trouble tracking it down then you can use normal whole milk mixed with a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
