A Friday night in with Weight Watchers Chicken Jambalaya
Do you ever get to Friday night, when you’ve finally got the kids to bed after a long and busy week, and you don’t have to energy to go back into the kitchen and start cooking for yourself? Yep me too… regularly! Evenings like this we usually end up reaching for a takeaway menu so when Weight Watchers got in touch to see if I wanted to try out their new Chicken Jambalaya chilled meal I was keen to give it a go.
The challenge set by Weight Watchers was to spend one Friday night cooking a Chicken Jambalaya from scratch for myself and my husband and the following Friday trying out the Weight Watchers prepared version for a quiet night in by myself.
The first Friday night I cooked this lovely Chicken Jambalaya from scratch. It was really tasty but did require a bit of preparation in chopping all the ingredients. I liked the fact that this was a one-pot meal, meaning less washing up but it did take over 30 minutes in prep and cooking.
The following Friday night my husband was out some friends and so I took the opportunity to try out the Weight Watchers Limited Edition Chicken Jambalaya chilled meal. I have to say I was really impressed with the taste. The meal had a lot of flavour and actually tasted a little more rich than the homemade version, probably because it had been slow cooked for longer.
For a Friday night in by myself this Chicken Jambalaya was perfect. Obviously it meant I didn’t have to cook so saved some time which I could use to relax by myself! But also I like the fact that it was portion controlled. I tend to cook too much, especially when it’s just for one so this was great for me and anyone else is keeping track of their portion size or calorie intake.
Weight Watchers Chicken Jambalaya (RRP £2.50) is available exclusively at Asda from May until October 2017 in the chilled aisle.
