Making your own homemade jam tarts is so easy. You just need two simple ingredients and you can use any flavour of jam that you enjoy.

This is a great recipe to make with the kids as it's so quick and simple; perfect for children with short attention spans or who can't cope with overly complicated recipes.

Ingredients

The ingredients are simply a roll of shortcrust pastry and some jam.

I used two different flavours of jam - raspberry and mango. I love this lower sugar jam from Fearne & Rosie but any kind of jam will work perfectly.

How To Make Jam Tarts

This recipe is so simple but I've included some step by step images below as I know this can be helpful particularly to children when making them for the first time.

The full ingredients list with measurements is in the recipe card towards the bottom of the blog post.

  1. Unroll the pastry and use an 8cm cutter to cut out 12 pastry circles.
  1. Push each of the pastry circles into a muffin or cupcake tray. You don't need to push the pastry all the way to the bottom.
  1. Add 2 teaspoon of jam to each of the pieces of pastry.
  1. Bake in the oven for 13-14 minutes.

Once out of the oven, leave the tarts to cool for a few minutes in the tin. This is important for two reasons:

1 - The pastry will shrink a little as it cools making it easier to pop the tarts out.

2 - The jam will still be quite runny and very hot. As it cool it will set and become more firm.

They are then ready to enjoy! I serve them with some some fruit and veggies and a portion of protein like this cheese for a brilliantly balanced snack.

Description

An easy baking recipe to make with the kids. Jam Tarts with just two ingredients!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 375g shortcrust pastry
  • 150g jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180c fan.
  2. Use an 8cm cutter to cut out 12 circles from the pastry.
  3. Press each of the circles into a muffin or cupcake tin. You don't have to push them all the way in.
  4. Add 2 teaspoon of jam to each of the pastry circles.
  5. Bake in the oven for 13-14 minutes.
  6. Allow the tarts to cool for a few minutes in the tin before removing. The pastry will shrink a little which makes it easier for them to remove. And also the jam will set whilst cooling.

Notes

These Jam Tarts will keep in an airtight container for 2 days.

They can also be frozen for 2 months. Defrost at room temperature in 3-4 hours.
