Jump To Recipe Print Recipe

A copycat make-at-home version of the Costa Strawberry, Watermelon & Mint Refresher. So easy to make and much cheaper too.

Strawberry, Watermelon & Mint Refresher served in a clear Costa plastic cup with a straw.

People are going crazy for the Costa Refresher drinks at the moment. There's nothing like a cold fruity drink in this weather but they're not cheap and if you're buying a few a week, or if you have more than one child then the cost will soon add up.

So I set myself the challenge of recreating my own version at home.

Why You'll Love This Refresher Drink

  • Cheap to make versus £5 to buy
  • Quick to make in just a few minutes
  • High in nutrients and fibre too

How To Make A Costa Refresher Drink

This is honestly so simple and I can't even call it a recipe really! I've included some step by step photos below in case that's helpful.

You will need to use quite a blender to blitz the ingredients together. I'm using the Ninja Blast which I bought last year and am I find it so handy for single serve drinks like this.

  1. You'll need frozen strawberries, fresh watermelon and fresh mint.
  1. Add them to a blender with some water.
  1. Blitz until smooth.
  1. Pour into a cup or glass along with some ice.

Serve up immediately for a refreshing, hydrating and super healthy summer drink.

This recipe makes one large serving but for younger kids you can divide into two servings.

Whole Fruit v Concentrate

The original Costa version of this drink is made from concentrate juice. All the fibre is taken out in the process, many of the nutrients are lost and sugar is added too.

This homemade version packs in more nutrition as it uses whole fruit, blitzed up rather than juiced. The fibre, vitamins and minerals in the juice remains. And there's no added sugar or sweetener.

We all love a convenient coffee shop drink from time to time, but lets face it... they are expensive. So this homemade version is a great alternative that will pack in lots of nutrition and is super hydrating for a hot summer's day.
