Pesto Puff Pastry Star Wreath

Description

A fun savoury snack to serve up this Christmas. Star shaped puff pastry with red and green pesto


Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 50g green pesto
  • 50g red pesto
  • 1 egg
  • 20g grated parmesan

Instructions

  1. Unroll one sheet of puff pastry and cut it in half across the middle.
  2. Spread the green pesto on the top half and the red pesto on the bottom half.
  3. Unroll the second sheet of pastry and place it on top, pressing everything down together.
  4. Use a medium sized star cutter to cut out star shapes from the pastry.
  5. Take a piece of parchment paper and a large dinner plate.
  6. Draw around the edge of the plate so that you have a perfect circle marked out on the paper.
  7. Arrange the stars on the paper, following the circle shape round and overlapping the stars slightly.
  8. Whisk the egg in a small bowl with a fork and brush onto the top of the pastry stars.
  9. Sprinkle the grated parmesan on top.
  10. Bake in the oven at 200c fan for 15 minutes.
  11. When cooked, remove from the oven. You can serve the pastry wreath on the paper you cooked it on or you can transfer it to a board or plate.
