I've really been enjoying trying out lots of ice creams and milkshakes in the Ninja Creami this summer but also wanted to try some healthier lower sugar Frozen Yogurt ideas too.

I made this Coconut Frozen Yogurt which was delicious but next on my list to try was a Chocolate Fro Yo and it did not disappoint.

Not Sure Which Creami Model Is For You?

If you're looking to buy a Ninja Creami but not sure which one, check out my guide comparing all three models

How To Make Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

When you make frozen yogurt at home it can come out quite icy but in the Ninja Creami it is so much better. You don't get any of those ice particles and it honestly just tastes like ice cream.

Here's some step-by-step instructions how I made it and the full ingredients and measurements are in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.

  1. Add vanilla yogurt, milk and cocoa powder to a Creami tub.
  1. Use a hand whisk to mix all the ingredients together.
  1. Freeze for 24 hours.
  1. Blend in the Ninja Creami on FULL and FROZEN YOGURT mode.

The frozen yogurt might look a little powdery on top after blending. It will be fine underneath so just give it a mix with a spoon.

And then it's ready to enjoy!

Variations

MIX INS - I didn't use any mix-in's with this recipe but you could add some chocolate chips after blending and put it back in the machine on MIX-IN mode.

DAIRY FREE - You can use dairy free yogurt and milk to make this fro yo dairy free.

PLAIN YOGURT - I used vanilla yogurt for this recipe as it needs a little bit of sweetness. But you could also use plain or greek yogurt and add a couple of tablespoons of honey.

Ninja Creami Tubs

My Ninja Creami came with three tubs but I bought these extra tubs so that I can keep several bases in the freezer ready to use.

Storing Leftovers

Leftover fro yo can be returned to the freezer in the tub.

Leave to defrost for about 10 minutes before eating it. You can also put it back into the machine, blending on a RE-SPIN mode if you prefer it softer.
