Ingredients
- 2kg Maris Piper potatoes
- 100ml whole milk
- 50g butter
- 100ml whole milk
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Peel the potatoes and chop them into smallish pieces of even sizes.
- Add them to a saucepan and cover with boiling water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 12-15 minutes depending on their size.
- You’ll know they are done when you can get a fork easily through them.
- Drain the potatoes well and add them back into the saucepan.
- Add the milk and butter and mash with a potato masher or a ricer until there are no lumps.
- Transfer the mashed potato into two large freezer bags and leave to cool.
- Once cool transfer them into the freezer.
- To defrost, take the bags out of the freezer about 4 or 5 hours before dinner and leave to defrost on a plate.
- Add the defrosted mashed potato to a saucepan. Add in more milk and butter and reheat very gently on a low heat stirring constantly so that they don’t burn.
- Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
