Description

Easy yeast-free bread rolls made with flour and greek yogurt and topped with ham and cheese

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300g self raising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 400g plain greek yogurt
  • 50g ham, chopped
  • 50g grated cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180c and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Add the flour, baking powder and salt to a large bowl and mix well.
  3. Add the greek yogurt and mix with a spoon until well combined.
  4. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface or chopping board and knead it for a couple of minutes.
  5. Cut it into six equal sizes pieces, forming into a round bread roll shape and placing on the lined baking tray.
  6. Top with bread rolls with the chopped ham, then the grated cheese and bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool on the tray for a few minutes.
  8. They are delicious eaten on their own or you can cut them open and spread on some butter.

Notes

If the dough seems too sticky after you have turned it out on the work surface or chopping board, you can add some more flour as you knead it. The type of greek yogurt you use will affect this. Traditional greek yogurt tends to be thicker than say supermarket own brand greek yogurt. So don't worry if your dough seems too sticky, just add extra flour.

Leftovers will keep in the fridge for 2 days and can be reheated in the microwave.

These bread rolls can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Defrost at room temperature in a couple of hours and eat them cold or reheated as above.
