Easy yeast-free bread rolls made with flour and greek yogurt and topped with ham and cheese

Making your own bread rolls for lunch doesn't have to be difficult or complicated. This recipe uses just a few simple ingredients and contains no yeast. So no proving or time for rising is needed.
The dough is made with self raising flour and greek yogurt with a little baking powder and salt. Rolled into six bread rolls and topped with some chopped ham and grated cheese. Absolutely delicious.

Easy Homemade Bread Roll Recipe
The full recipe with all measurements and instructions are in the recipe card towards the bottom of this post but I've also included some step by step photos here which might be useful.

- Add the flour, baking powder and salt to a large bowl and mix. Then add in the greek yogurt.

- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for a couple of minutes.

- Cut the dough into six pieces.

- Form into a round shape and place on a lined baking tray.

The last step is to top the bread rolls with some chopped ham and grated cheddar cheese, then they're ready to bake.
Bake in the oven at 180c for 25 minutes.

Once baked, allow them to cool for a few minutes on the tray.
They are absolutely delicious eaten still warm. You can eat them just as they are or cut open and spread on some butter.

Storing & Freezing
These bread rolls contain no preservatives so are best kept in the fridge. They will keep in the fridge for 2 days and can be eaten cold or reheated in the microwave.
They can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Defrost at room temperature in a couple of hours and eat them cold or reheated in the microwave.

Description

Ingredients
- 300g self raising flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 400g plain greek yogurt
- 50g ham, chopped
- 50g grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180c and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Add the flour, baking powder and salt to a large bowl and mix well.
- Add the greek yogurt and mix with a spoon until well combined.
- Turn out the dough onto a floured surface or chopping board and knead it for a couple of minutes.
- Cut it into six equal sizes pieces, forming into a round bread roll shape and placing on the lined baking tray.
- Top with bread rolls with the chopped ham, then the grated cheese and bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
- Allow to cool on the tray for a few minutes.
- They are delicious eaten on their own or you can cut them open and spread on some butter.
Notes
If the dough seems too sticky after you have turned it out on the work surface or chopping board, you can add some more flour as you knead it. The type of greek yogurt you use will affect this. Traditional greek yogurt tends to be thicker than say supermarket own brand greek yogurt. So don't worry if your dough seems too sticky, just add extra flour.
Leftovers will keep in the fridge for 2 days and can be reheated in the microwave.
These bread rolls can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Defrost at room temperature in a couple of hours and eat them cold or reheated as above.
