A classic homemade Hot Chocolate with gingerbread flavours. The perfect warming drink this Christmas!

Gingerbread hot chocolate served in red cups with white stars. Garnished with whipped cream, grated chocolate flakes, mini marshmallows and gingerbread men.

At this time of year there’s nothing better than a mug of hot chocolate with lots of toppings. The perfect warming drink when you’ve been out in the cold all day!

This version has a Christmas twist as it’s flavoured with gingerbread spices to make it extra festive!

If you think the kids won’t like the gingerbread flavour then maybe start with half the amount that I’ve listed in the ingredients and see how they get on with it.

Close up of top of the hot chocolate, garnish with whipped creamed, grated chocolate, mini marshmallows and gingerbread man.

The first step is to add milk, hot chocolate mixture and vanilla extract to a saucepan.

Then add the gingerbread spices; ground cinnamon, ground ginger and ground nutmeg.

Ingredients being added into a saucepan.

Heat gently for 2-3 minutes to warm the milk up but be careful not to let it come to the boil.

Ingredients being stirred in a saucepan with a wooden spoon.

Once heated through, divide the hot chocolate between two mugs.

Hot chocolate being poured into the Christmas cups.

Then add any toppings you want. We love whipped cream, mini marshmallows, grated chocolate and a mini gingerbread man to finish it off!

Decoration being added to the hot chocolate. Whipped cream, grated chocolate along with mini marshmallows and gingerbread men.

Get cosy on the couch with a Christmas movie on the tv and enjoy this winter warmer!
