Homemade chicken goujons, lightly seasoned and with a cheesy breadcrumb. A delicious dinner idea for kids.

If your kids like chicken goujons it's so easy to make your own at home. Just a few simple ingredients and you know exactly what it going into them.
Homemade chicken nuggets or goujons can be a bit bland. The key is lots of seasoning. Add herbs and spices to the breadcrumb mix and I've also used some grated cheese in this recipe, making them super tasty!
They are brilliant for batch making and you can freeze them raw and cook directly from frozen on another day.

How To Make Homemade Goujons
The full recipe with all the ingredient measurements is in the recipe card towards the bottom of this blog post but I've also included some step by step images here too that might be helpful.
They're great to show the kids so they can make this recipe themselves.

- Add two eggs to a bowl and whisk with a fork

- Add dried breadcrumbs, seasoning and grated cheese to another bowl and mix.

- Take one mini chicken fillet at a time and dip in the egg.

- Then coat in the cheesy breadcrumbs.
cooking instructions
Add the coated mini fillet to a lined baking tray and repeat with the remaining chicken.
Any leftover breadcrumb mixture can be added to the top. Spray the goujons with a little oil.
Oven Instructions - Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. For the last 5 minutes, turn the goujons over so that they get crispy on both sides.
Airfryer Instructions - Technically these can be cooked in the airfryer. Cook them at 190c for 15 minutes but the fan in my airfryer is very strong and I found that the cheese coating on top blew off. So just keep this in mind.

storing & freezing
These goujons are best eaten immediately after serving. They will keep in the fridge for up to 2 days but the coating will soften a little.
They can also be batch made and frozen. After coating the chicken in the breadcrumb mixture, flash freeze on a plate or tray for a few hours then transfer to a freezer bag or container. Bake from frozen adding an extra 5-7 minutes to the cooking time.

Serving
Serve these Cheesy Chicken Goujons with potato wedges, oven fries or something else like rice or mashed potato.
Along with a quick cook veg like frozen peas.
